About
Hello and thanks for visiting this blog, which originally was dedicated to my travels around the world. However, as a result of announcing my travel intent to my manager, I ended up on a gig to China. I am thankful for this opportunity; it’s been quite an eye-openeing adventure so far. So, please enjoy this blog dedicated to travels and life in the mysterious Middle Kingdom.
The name “Der Wanderer”, which is a reference to the wandering character in Wagner’s opera Siegfried, is a title I’ve always like and I think it works well for a blog like this. My original intent for traveling around the world was not just to see the sights and feel the experiences, but moreso to inspire myself to take my personal life, my work life to a higher level. I had sensed complacency for a while and decided it was the perfect time to step away from the comforts of the US and have some adventure.
In 2009, as my team was ready to fly on their own, I was “fortunate” enough to be laid off at Microsoft, which was clearly a sign to try my hand at my being an entrepreneur, which had long been a dream of mine. It’s an experience that I am finding thrilling and gratifying, but not easy.
Please feel free to send me mail, leave comments, and enjoy this site.
